Senior Backend/Data Engineer – Remote

Gem is a search engine for vintage and second-hand clothing. We are building a service that helps millions of vintage seekers find what they are looking for. Our mission is to make second-hand shopping and culture more mainstream. We’re a proudly bootstrapped startup, with self-sustaining revenue.

We’re looking for an experienced backend/data developer who loves to build, and finds what we do meaningful and exciting.

Who you are

• You have strong experience of service backends and DevOps. You have multiple years of hands-on experience of many of the technologies we use: Node.js, TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, GraphQL, AWS, Docker.
• Specifically, you have existing experience of operation and scalability of Elasticsearch and PostgreSQL, and message queue architectures.
• Experience in data analysis with tools such as Jupyter.
• You are interested in solving problems independently and learning new technologies.
