Bonnie Cashin
Bonnie Cashin launched her career as a costume designer on Broadway and in Hollywood. In the early 50s, she started to design ready-to-wear and was the first designer at Coach, the then-new leather accessory label. During her time at Coach, Cashin designed several iconic handbags, including one inspired by a brown shopping bag and all with her signature detail, the kissing brass lock.
In her lifetime, Cashin designed for over 35 companies, always with her signature on the label. Her designs were clever, witty, and functional.
