Women’s kaftans
Kaftans (or caftans) have been worn for thousands of years around the world. This garment type is originally from Asia. Kaftan usually has a loose design and long sleeves and is ankle-length. Kaftan is a great garment for a hot climate, especially when made out of natural materials like silk or linen.
French fashion designer Paul Poiret popularized the kaftan in the early 20th century. In the 50s, kaftans were worn as evening gowns and in the 70s, they became an essential part of hippie fashion.
