Vintage Compact Art Deco Orange Black Enamel Footed Vanity
This very unique vintage compact is from the 1920s or 1930s and has a stunning Art Deco style! This compact is made of shiny silver chrome metal and has a bright orange enamel cover with each corner highlighted in jet black. This piece features a silver shield-shaped center plaque most likely designed for a monogram and bright silver chrome accents. This compact is footed with four little ball-shaped feet and has a floral engraving design on the top and bottom edges. There is a push button clasp and when opened reveals 2 rounds of makeup wells, one for powder and the other for rouge. The wells have removable shiny chrome covers and the base of the compact is painted a cream color. The cover is lined in black velvet with a fuchsia-pink velvet insert that is removable by a ribbon handle. I have never seen a vanity compact with this velvet cover liner nor have I seen this type of removable insert so I am not sure what it was designed for or if it is original or not. Nonetheless, it is lovely as is.
Measures 4 3/8" x 3 1/8" x 1 1/4".
This compact is in good vintage condition, the metal parts are still very shiny and the enamel is in good condition. The velvet liner fits perfectly and is in great shape. There is some chipping on the cream-colored paint that is around the wells.
This tabletop vanity compact is rare and will make a wonderful addition to any collection or could be used to place on your night table and keep your rings or small jewelry inside!
