There is so much that is mind blowing about this gold cocktail dress. First, it is a 1960s vintage custom couture by Norman Hartnell. Yes, the designer of Queen Elizabeth's wedding & coronation gowns (among many many others). This is NOT ready to wear. The skirt portion is made of the most exquisite metallic gold lace which is matched for a continuous pattern as opposed to a seam. The bodice is made of a metallic gold knit. Zips up side with metal zipper. You can also tell a lot about a garment by turning it inside out and examining the lining and under structure. This is the moment where it really shines. Dress is 'lined' with a gold satin skirt and strapless boned bodice. All the finishing of seams and construction are done by hand. Its what you expect with couture. Dress was obtained from the estate of a woman who was a model in the 1950s & early 60s (her husband was a Marlboro man during the same time).

Condition: excellent. only issue is 2 professional mends in gold lame bodice. they are nearly invisible. see last photo (like I said, invisible)
