Roger Vivier
Roger Vivier has sometimes been called the Faberge of shoes. HIs designs are whimsical, fun, and decorative, often inspired by the 17th century. Vivier studied sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris – not surprisingly, his shoes often are like sculptures. In 1937 he opened his atelier and started to design shoes for big international companies like Delman and Bally. In 1953 he started to collaborate with Dior. The heel is often a Vivier shoe's most prominent and eye-catching part. They often remind geometrical shapes like balls and pyramids, or man-made objects like needles. Vivier was one of the first designers to introduce stiletto heels around the year 1953.
