Huk-A-Poo
Huk-A-Poo is famous for its 70s novelty print nylon disco shirts. The label launched in the early 60s when a sportswear brand hired a young designer called Joan Sachs from the Parsons School of Design to help them sell clothes to the junior market and young salesman Jerri Sherman to take care of the marketing. Huk-A-Poo started with teen shift dresses and sweaters, and in the mid-70s, they introduced printed nylon tops which became a huge craze.
Huk-A-Poo shirts were the first contemporary fashion items that MET Costume Institute accepted to their collection in 1978.
