Claire McCardell
Claire McCardell is oftend credited as “the mother of American sportswear”. McCardell’s most famous designs are from the 30s to the 50s and they still look surprisingly modern. Her designs were democratic, easy to wear, and easy to move in. Some of her innovations are pedal-pushers (calf-length trousers), strapless swimsuits, bareback summer dresses, and the use of everyday materials for evening wear.
